Taken for granted, PNG independence on a golden plate
"Given on a golden plate, PNG's Independence" When thinking of this statement that we always say and reflecting on the current state of our economy. Here is my take: Even after being independent since the 60s, several African nations are still repaying a kind of a NATIONAL DEBT framed as the COLONIAL TAX, paid from their national coffers to their former coloniser, France. Sad but true, upon being liberated politically and gaining political independence from France, they somewhat were forced into a systematic economic bondage. And it has entangled them ever since the 60s until this day. Some of these countries include Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and others. It is estimated that France sourced about 500 billion US dollars from these COLONIAL TAX scheme every year.
