Taken for granted, PNG independence on a golden plate

"Given on a golden plate, PNG's Independence"

When thinking of this statement that we always say and reflecting on the current state of our economy. Here is my take:

Even after being independent since the 60s, several African nations are still repaying a kind of a NATIONAL DEBT framed as the COLONIAL TAX, paid from their national coffers to their former coloniser, France. Sad but true, upon being liberated politically and gaining political independence from France, they somewhat were forced into a systematic economic bondage. And it has entangled them ever since the 60s until this day.

Some of these countries include Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and others.
It is estimated that France sourced about 500 billion US dollars from these COLONIAL TAX scheme every year.

At the time PNG gained independence, PNG has not acquired any form of DEBT from its colonisers. Neve! At the time PNG gained independence almost 98% of the landmass were legally customary owned land in comparison to the African nations where most of their land were already taken from them before independence.

Boom! That was our Golden Plate.

However, after 40 years of independence, we have now acquired a huge NATIONAL DEBT that will be paid via TAX schemes.

The African COLONIAL DEBT was so huge to reimburse that it once in the 60s made up almost 40% of the nation's budget. PNG is now systematically forced to pay up and it has to cash out from many of its potential avenues. We might see some approach by our government to be unjust in order to increase government revenue for timely debt repayment.

Are we selling our GOLDEN PLATE that cheap?

And we have seen some of these already rolling out. SEE BED MINING, MAKING CUSTOMARY LAND BANKABLE etc..
